In this episode, we will be having an in-depth conversation with Mun Siong Yoong of Vallaris.
Siong Yoong is a trained engineer, fellow chartered accountant, certified patent valuation analyst, and chartered valuer and appraiser (interesting twist of events there). It is hard to come across engineers who are trained in very in-depth finance and finance people who have a strong mind for engineering (in terms of mindset).
Siong Yoong worked 10 years as an engineer, starting his career at Becton Dickinson, the world's largest syringe manufacturer. He went on to join a startup (before it was the hot, in-thing) doing telco infrastructure-as-a-service as employee no. 3. Within 5 years, he helped the company expand into 9 countries with 13 teleports and client accounts from the likes of Asian Development Bank (ADB).
In 2007, he transitioned his life to the world of finance (life works in mysterious ways), He worked at KPMG, then got headhunted and became the founding partner and Deal Advisory practice leader at Baker Tilly Singapore, growing it to become a market leader.
Eventually, he went on to start his second company, VALLARIS, the strategic confidence company. VALLARIS believes in helping great TREND1010 businesses become valuable by growing, acquiring and/or exiting. They strongly believe that with the increase in strategic confidence, capital flows and businesses grow.
